This is frequently exposed by an immediate deflection / diversion of the focus of attention somewhere else. If they even shift the focus, this is a win for them. My suggestion, don't follow their lead. You know the truth. Stick with it.

Certainly, there is a legitimate kind of interaction where those who honestly and humbly want to learn the truth so they can obey will engage you with questions. This is relatively rare, in my experience, especially among those schooled in "the faith." Most just have their prideful minds set on rebellion and want to do what they want to do and defend their justifications, and they love to engage real believers in foolish arguments to sway them if possible.

Even if Acts 18:26 stated plainly that Pricilla herself instructed Apollos, which it doesn't, how could such an example possibly nullify what is so plainly stated in 1 Timothy 2:11-12? The other big ploy used to derail those who call attention to 1 Timothy's declaration is to cast doubt on the author's legitimacy.

Jezebel got a huge bump when feminism came to town. In this late hour, there are High School graduates who have never even heard of feminism. "Devil? What Devil. I don't see any Devil." He was being guided by a book he had read. When I found out the book was written by a woman I questioned him on the grounds of, "woman teaching a man." He responded with:

Acts 18:26 And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.

He said here is Priscilla "expounding" onto Apollos.

I was not sure how to respond other than to say that the verse does not say explicitly that it was Priscilla who "expounded unto him." I have to believe that she helped take him in (hospitality) but it was Aquila doing the teaching.

Thoughts/comments appreciated.DissentFromDayOneDOTcomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00565760907159424784noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9888300.post-57671578699497125102011-01-16T11:46:31.482-08:002011-01-16T11:46:31.482-08:00For the benefit of everyone who reads here and con...For the benefit of everyone who reads here and considers the message and what affirmation the Lord might bring, I ask for the exercise of patience as the work unfolds here and in your life. I believe there is more to follow in the series of posts on this topic.Bob Schlenkerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06889020206773728748noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9888300.post-34451167795019336372011-01-16T08:18:59.964-08:002011-01-16T08:18:59.964-08:00Hi Carl,

You've probably read where I have been writing here, asking for patience as it unfolds. This work is unfolding for me, too. Some of what I have been led to address is familiar ground, yet not everything.

It's very encouraging to hear that you'll be discussing head covering soon amongst the congregation. This subject is dear to me, partly because I know what impact it has in the lives of the saints, and partly because of the impact it has upon the angels. Bottom line, though, is that it's the Lord Himself who is honored! It seems trite to say so, but that really is what should be important, right? I praise the Lord for your wisdom, brother, and your courage, commitment and love.

BobBob Schlenkerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06889020206773728748noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9888300.post-10413211999934669092011-01-16T06:24:39.497-08:002011-01-16T06:24:39.497-08:00Bob,

When a man permits a woman to teach him, does he not follow the example of the man in the garden?"

Does this mean only preaching in Church or in all instances? I have been taught in college by women? Also, woman speak at our Bible/Prayer night. What is the definition of teach here?

I agree with your post on head covering and will be discussing it soon amongst the congregation.

CarlAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
