Do you sit there with a smug look on your face, pointing your finger at others with a self-assurance that you yourself see perfectly well? I challenge you to consider well how you would know this thing with such confidence? Do the blind not all claim to see? Yet, you constantly assure yourself, “I see, I see,” while looking away from the darkness in you, and you are willing to receive false comfort in maintaining your secret blind spots. This can not be tolerated. Two eyes are required of us, eyes that see clearly, that are able to look long and soberly in the mirror in the bright light of day and then judge rightly within the church.
21 Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls. 22 But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; 24 for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. 25 But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does. ~ James 1:21-25
17 Because you say, “I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing,” and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked, 18 I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see. 19 Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent. ~ Revelation 3:17-19
What is this eye salve? It's metaphorical, and because it makes the eye a seeing eye it compares to what makes the ear a hearing ear. What the Lord has granted us to know about developing a hearing ear is this purchasing of the eye salve.
So take care how you listen; for whoever has, to him more shall be given; and whoever does not have, even what he thinks he has shall be taken away from him.” ~ Luke 8:18
But eye salve is costly. It costs us our independence, or so we think. (John 8:31-36 and Romans 8) It costs us our very lives, or so we think. The irony is that to truly live and become free we must buy from the Lord His gold refined by fire, white garments and eye salve. It costs everything, but in this trading one master for another is a bargain that is truly measured beyond our capacity to grasp. We make the purchase in heaven's market as we take up our cross and follow Him. What this looks like as it is walked out in shoe leather, sweat, tears and blood, is obedience. Humble submission. Genuine love, honor and respect for the Lord's authority and holiness. But let's get to where the shoe leather meets the road.
If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. ~ John 14:15
Remember the words I spoke to you: 'No servant is greater than his master.' if they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. ~ John 15:20
Has the Lord not brought forth a crying out for gender propriety, a commanding of respect for His appointment of rank and order among men and women? Even the simple practice of head covering has been dismissed. Why do you claim to see and love when you still despise and reject His commandments? If you had obeyed, you would now be seeing and hearing. You sit under judgment in ignorance of your own state. Have you abstained from whoring in the marketplace of churchianity as you follow the one-eyed kings appointed over the spotted flocks? Where is the respect for His authority, you men who abide the teaching of women and yield up your authority to women and children? Where is the exercise of wisdom and discernment as you think to attain what is pure from the fountains of impurity? When love is claimed, when have you dared to hold it up to the standards of 1 Corinthians 13? You have sold yourselves on the cheap with those who practice lawlessness, caring not for the cross that paid for your life with righteous blood. You abide conflicts of interest in the church where Christ is named when even those outside the fold would cry foul. Where the self exaltation of celebrity endorsements abound you acclaim the air of humility. Where the symbols wielded by the hordes of the Enemy of your souls abound, you dismiss them still as if they are of no consequence, and remain bound and blinded by them. You respond to the rallying cry of those leading the saints in rebellion as though it is your duty in service to God, when instead, He has commanded you to peaceably submit. Instead of taking up your cross, you take up your sword, and so it must be. In the day when He brings the reaping, His authority and holiness will be manifest, and you will weep with sorrow that will only be wiped away after your filthy robe has been washed clean in His blood.
Is there no one who will stand and give a right testimony, bearing witness to the Lord's patience in bringing a people to salvation? Let it be known that the Lord will have a people, raised up from among us, upright in heart. He will not be mocked.
